General IFH Living Guidelines

The IFH was founded in 1966 by a group of individuals who wanted to provide a safe place for male international students to stay while they were studying in Boston. The board of directors and resident managers are Christians but the house welcomes students of any or no religious background. We are a community that values open discussion and thoughtful dialogue.

The big rules of the house are: no smoking in the house; no excessive/disorderly drinking (no drinking in the house at all if under the age of 21 – US law); no drugs (we are not a fraternity house/party house); and no intimate guests (no sex) in your rooms overnight or ever.

Speaking English is required in all public areas, and no resident will be put in a room with someone who speaks the same first language as they do.
